Senior Tournaments - Season 2010-2011
EGGS Summer Eclectic 11 - 21 September 10
The course was playing its full length on Tuesday after prolonged rainfall so the seniors had some excuse for their modest scoring in the eleventh round of the EGGS Summer Eclectic.
This was won by Jim Hawthorn with 34 points, one better than Ian Fraser.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 10 - 07 September 10
Tuesday was seriously windy but the seniors still turned out in force for the tenth round of the EGGS Summer Eclectic. Presumably they were hoping to hoping to reach some greens, normally out of range, with the help of the gale.
George Mitchell managed this at the first and tenth holes and this helped him to win Tuesday's round with 28 points after count back from Dave Lyall, John Morrison, Pat Valentine and Donald Farquhar.
Ron Ritchie also enlisted the help of the wind to get his par on the long fourth hole and now leads the Eclectic on nett 49, two shots clear of John Morrison.
Mitchell moved into third place on nett 53, one ahead of Bob Black, Jim Hawthorn and Jim Telfer.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 9 - 31 August 10
For the second week in a row, no one beat the 36 point mark in the EGGS Summer Eclectic and Donald Farquhar's 35 point effort was a winning one. His score was largely based on a 21 point outward nine.
Competition front runners Ron Ritchie and John Morrison finished two shots back as did first time EGG Jack Johnstone.
Ritchie's round included a priceless birdie at the sixth to get him down to nett 50 and first place on his own but Morrison improved by a shot courtesy of a birdie two at the third and is only a shot back in second place.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 8 - 24 August 10
Scoring was not so good for last week's Round 8 which was won by Jim Buchan on 35 points. Donald Jack and Dar Sutherland shared second place with 33 points.
After eight rounds, Ron Ritchie and John Morrison are the front runners in the EGGS Summer Eclectic with nett 52, two ahead of Ian Fraser and Jim Telfer.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 7 - 17 August 10
Valentine had more success as he beat Dave Thom on count back after they too had 39 points.
Telfer and Bob Black were only a point behind the leaders on a day of good scoring.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 6 - 10 August 10
Sandy Wright won Round 6 on count back from Fraser after both scored 39 points. Sandy Stewart and Pat Valentine were three points adrift.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 5 - 03 August 10
Jack was in fine form in Round 5 of the EGGS Summer Eclectic on Tuesday and claimed first place with 37 points. His round included three birdies with twos at the ninth and fourteenth holes and a three at the fifteenth.
John Morrison, obviously settling nicely into retirement, had another consistent round of 36 points and second place, one point ahead of Bob Robertson and Sandy Stewart.
Despite having one of his poorer rounds Ron Ritchie still managed to improve by a couple of shots and is the new leader of the eclectic on nett 55 with Morrison and Jim Telfer a further shot back.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 4 - 27 July 10
Dave Lyall was the latest winner in the EGGS Summer Eclectic on Tuesday with 42 Stableford points. Dave Thom was second with 37 points with Mac Cameron and Ian Manson a point further back.
Manson, who had a good birdie at the seventeenth hole, moved to nett 58 in the overall eclectic and shares second place with Ron Ritchie.
John Morrison improved by a shot and remains in the lead on nett 57.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 3 - 22 July 10
The seniors played the third round of the EGGS Summer Eclectic on Thursday with Alan Simmonite taking the honours on count back from Donald Farquhar and John Morrison after all scored 35 points. Sandy Wright and Pat Valentine were next best with 34 points.
As a result of Thursday's round Morrison emerged as Eclectic leader with nett 58, two ahead of Farquhar, Ronald Mackay and Ian Manson.
EGGS Summer Eclectic 1 & 2 - 06 & 13 July 10
Sandy Reid has started the EGGS Summer Eclectic in brilliant fashion.
After winning the first round on count back from Ronald Mackay, both with 39 points, Reid made light of a two shot handicap cut to win again on Tuesday, this time with 40 points.
Bill Hossack and Alan Simmonite both earned handicap cuts after Round 1, a fate that Ron Ritchie and David Warren both suffered on Tuesday after scoring 38 and 37 points respectively.
Newest member John Morrison has made a sound start to his EGGS career and leads the Eclectic, at this very early stage, on nett 61.
Ian Manson is snapping at his heels on nett 62 with a host of others waiting to pounce.
