Club Fundraiser - Speed Golf - 02 July 10
There was an excellent turn out for the speed golf event on Friday with members scurrying all over the course to help the cause. The official time is not yet to hand but they comfortably beat the half hour mark.
The recent Speed Golf at Thurso GC was completed in 26 minutes 51 seconds.
No one guessed the exact time but the three nearest guesses were as follows:-
A total of £1,300 was raised for Club funds.
The Committee would like to thank all who took part.
Message from the New Captain - 12 March 10
Dear Member
At our Committee Meeting on Monday past one of the subjects discussed for the coming year was that of Fund-raising. The Committee discussed several ideas of ways to bring additional funding into our club through fund-raising. We decided that we should ask all the Membership for their ideas and also for some volunteers once we have finalised what we are planning to do.
Our Committee are all golfers like you the Members, and I fully understand why people only want to play golf and not get involved in the running of the Club. But a little help in fund-raising from a few more Members will go a long way in bringing extra revenue into the Club which will benefit everyone, not just the Committee. Please all remember the club belongs to all of us.
Some of the ideas bandied around at Committee were Hole Sponsorship, Scratch type cards at the bar, Fourball Voucher swap with other clubs and then sold on, Race Nights etc etc.
If all Members get their thinking caps on I am sure we will come up with some really good ideas and with some commitment from the Members we will be able to turn them into money.
Another area we need to try and utilise is our Bar and Function room. Last Saturday we had a function with Caithness Badminton Club which in financial terms made our golf club around £600 profit in one evening. With us being able to offer a very good caterer as well now, who will prepare food to suit any budget, we as Members should be looking for every opportunity to market our facility. If anyone knows or comes up with any potential functions please contact anyone on the Committee or myself and we will move it forward. One function a month would make a big difference to our club.
Finally I ask you all not to just read this and forget about it but to start thinking and start offering a little help that will make a big difference to OUR Golf Club.
Regards
Ewan
