Thurso's Match Secretary Angus Cameron's efforts to attract a big number of teams for the club's inaugural Texas Scramble, sponsored by the Pentland Hotel, were thwarted by miserable weather on Sunday.

Despite the weather there was some good scoring with Cameron's team leading the way with a winning nett 56.4.

Jason Simpson and Malcolm Morrison were Cameron's team mates and they had three birdies in each nine.

Graeme McLeod, Graeme Henderson and Stephen Bremner had no birdies in a one over par outward nine but fairly got the hang of things after the turn with three birdies and an eagle two at the thirteenth to come agonisingly close to winning with a nett 56.8.

Reay trio Lee Parnell, Murray McGlasson and Richard Macdonald skipped to the turn in three under par but only got one more birdie and had to settle for third place on nett 61.2.
