Mens Tournaments - Season 2010-2011
Rotary Open, Thurso - 02 May 10

Thurso Golf Club hosted their first open competition of the season last weekend with the Rotary Open and it proved to be a triumph for home member Ian Macphee as he claimed the trophy with a fine 39 point round.
Macphee, who was a 12 handicap player, was four over par for 20 points on the outward nine, and despite recording a blank on the short fourteenth hole, finished with a birdie three an the last hole for a further 19 points on the inward nine.
Former Thurso club champion Doug Thorburn has been in impressive early season form and this continued with a one under par round of 68 for 37 points and second place. Thorburn had birdies at the seventh and seventeenth holes with his only dropped shot coming at the tricky tenth hole.
Reay's Donnie'CD' Mackay did his bit for the visitors by finishing in third place after losing out on count back to Thorburn. Mackay had a very good 20 point outward nine but slipped up at the last two holes.
Another regular from Reay, Donald 'Mojo' Mowat failed to get a point at the fifteenth hole on his way to a 36 point total and it was to cost him fourth place as this was claimed, on count back, by current Thurso club champion Bryan Ronald, thanks to a level par inward nine that yielded 20 points.
Stephen Osborne and Mick Ross both had fine inward nines to finish next best on 35 and 34 points respectively.
