Summer League 2 - 17 April 10

Players in the second round of the Newsbeat Summer League at Thurso Golf Club on Saturday had to put up with weather that changed from very difficult to diabolical as the morning wore on. This resulted in a high percentage of no returns and any score above 30 points worthy of high praise.

Three players scored 32 points with Trevor Henderson earning first place with the best inward nine, relegating Harvey Cowe and Pat Valentine into second and third places respectively.

Henderson scored at least one point at every hole, as did Valentine, and followed up a 17 point outward nine with 15 more on the way in. Cowe had a couple of blanks but birdied the eighth and got his par at the long sixteenth that was played into the teeth of the strong wind.

Sid Campbell also got his par at the sixteenth on his way to a 31 point total, shared with Mick Ross and Stuart Bell.

Nicky Doherty had a couple of birdies in his 30 point effort. Stephen Bremner and Gordon Morris also had 30 points.
