Summer League 3 - 28 April 10

Earlier in the week the midweek sessions of the Newsbeat Summer League got underway.

Willie Shearer was consistency itself with 38 shots and 19 points for each nine to win by a shot on Wednesday.

Count back was required to settle the next three places with Graeme Henderson, Malcolm Morrison and Mick Ross finishing in that order after scoring 37 points apiece.

Pat Valentine and Paul O'Rourke were next best on 35 points.

The afternoon starters had the best of the weather on Tuesday and claimed most of the leading positions with Doug McCowan coming out on top with 37 points.

McCowan's was a very even round with only one birdie, at the eighth hole. Second placed Dougie Thorburn also birdied the eighth, as well as the sixth, seventh, thirteenth and fifteenth holes in a level par round and 36 points.

After a 17 point front nine, new Club Captain Ewan Mackenzie ran up a seven at the tenth but was level par for the remaining eight holes and claimed third place on count back from Jimmy Meiklejohn, Ronald Matheson and Gavin Souter all having scored 35 points.
