Thurso start well in Inter-County - AWAY

The first round of the Annual Thurso v Wick Inter-County match was held on October 27, 2001 in Wick Squash Club.

Both Thurso A and B teams managed to secure a 6-2 lead going into the return match, next year. Full results to follow.

The performance of the day should go to young Andrew Bremner, Wick, for beating Thurso stalwart Stuart Greig in a tight tussle. Andrew was 2-1 down but his fitness and accurate shot play proved too much for the Diamonds' supporter (Airdrie) and he managed to pull one back for 'e Wickerzzzzz.

Highlight of the day one, was seeing, 'Big Irv' return to the squash courts after some major plastic surgery.....

Highlight of the day two, was seeing Pradhip Datta return to help the Wick team and give young Martyn Cook (stallion) a few tips along the way.

Highlight of the day three, was seeing the elusive Graeme Mackenzie rub the cobwebs off his racket and give James 'Bird' Henderson a game, at the end of the day.
James was in control for most of the match, although there were some long tight rallies, and secured a 3-0 win over the young lad, leaving the Thurso team in a comfortable position for the return match.
