Orkney InterCounty - Season 2002-2003

Contents:- -HOME-|-AWAY-

Trophies come to Caithness - 15/03/03 (Home)

Caithness came back from losing in Orkney to lift the trophies in the Caithness v Orkney Inter-County tie.
Excellent performances by both Caithness teams managed to secure the trophies staying in Caithness but wins from Les Mackay and James Georgeson, over competitors they would usually have massive battles with, helped to lift the title.
A strong 'B' Team stormed their way through an Orkney side that was slightly different from the first leg.

Orkney take upper-hand in first leg - 16/11/02 (Away)

This was the first leg of the 2002 - 2003 Inter-County match and Caithness were on a high to retain the trophies from the past season.

Good performances from Colin Paterson, Carole Cameron and Jane Cormack - in the 'A' Team, managed to hold a respectable scoreline which could be squandered back in the home leg. James Georgeson was also unlucky to lose in the last game by a couple of points - which could have gone to any of the competitors.

The 'B' Team were unlucky to go back over the Firth 5-3 down, when they could've reversed the scoreline, in a couple of the matches.
Bruce Maltman and Karen Campbell showed their strength and strolled to 3-0 victories. But, the hero and, the happiest person of the trip must be 'HAPPY' Jappy from Wick. His slick, neat, tippie-tappie shots were dead on-line and their was no stopping him on the court. Even with a couple of dodgy calls from the referee and smacks on the back of the leg - he remained focused on the job in-hand and never got flustered, winning 3-0. Of course, he managed to inform all competitors and bar staff, later on, of his match, shot-by-shot, right to the very end. On yersel' Happy keep at it.

Thanks to Orkney for their boarding arrangements and food, and hope to see you all in Caithness for the return leg, next year.
