Bruceeeeee Bonus in the Antarctic
From what I have heard recently, Bruce has decided to take part in a mammoth dream of his, to work in the Antarctic (yes, really, the Antarctic) and run around in the snow/ice with penguins and christ knows what else is out there. It was mentioned that he will be isolated for 18 months with only a few trips home as part of his package.
Bruce has been a keen and enthusiastic traveller with the Assynt Mountain Rescue team, which included some extreme rock climbing and emergency manoeuvres but also liked to get into the warmth of Thurso Squash Club and was always a key player in the leagues and Inter/County teams.
All the best Bruce lad and, 'fil' 'ur boots'. Well, you better not do that, you never know what will happen..... Take care, and if you can, tune into eBiGH.com for the latest squash news.
Fred's Achilles will not ease.....
I was standing in line to pay for my lunch a few weeks ago and in the distance I heard the dulcet tones of Freddy shout across (you'll have to imagine the accent), 'Alrite, Davieeeee - my bloody Achilles is about to bloody go - gonna 'av to come out the bloody leagues.....'. The people surrounding me were not sure what to say and I wasn't sure whether to laugh or console the obviously, broken, Freddy boy.
After gathering his thoughts, Freddy explained that after a doctors appointment it was decided that he was going to have to rest, for a year, to avoid snapping his Achilles.
This, as I can imagine, was a major blow for one of the most consistent players in the Thurso Squash Club Leagues. Every season, Fred manages to finish in the top ten league positions out of a total average of about 80. Good going, I would say.
Anyway, take it easy Freddy and we will see you back when you're ready.
