Thurso Mortgage Shop League Trophy - Season 2008-2009
Young Gary wins on debut season

The 2008-2009 Thurso Squash Club League Trophy sponsored by I&D Pollard Mortgage Shop is a gruelling event that extends over a 12 month period and requires dedication and an injury free season to win the spoils.
Youngster and league debutante, Gary Beales, Wick matched all the credentials and after starting from the bottom of the leagues, managed to climb his way up the league ladder, battling against experienced campaigners en-route to win the title with a month to spare.
With regular trips from Wick to play his league matches, training and competition events in various areas of the country and Scottish call-ups for his age group, it has been a successful, but tiring, season for Gary and his parents.
Following the presentation of trophies, Gary timidly commented, 'it was excellent to win, have his name on this trophy with some great players and thanked his mother and father for being there and providing transport'.
It was also the first appearance in the leagues for the runner-up of this event, David Rosie.
Starting up as a beginner, David has progressed greatly in a short space of time, is always keen to learn new techniques and is moving his way up the leagues well.
In third place, and never far off a trophy award, was Les Mackay.
Les is a regular in the League one category and to be consistent over this period against some of the top players in the county and win a prize was an achievement in itself.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and the club is always looking for new members.
Doosan Babcock will now sponsor the Thurso Squash Club league trophy and the club would like to thank I&D Pollard Mortgage Shop for their excellent support over the past 8 years.
