Doosan Babcock Energy League Trophy - Season 2009-2010

Darren pulls away from pack to win league

Winner - Darren Begg

After a tough and strenuous 12 months of playing in the Doosan Babcock (sponsor) - Thurso Squash Club League ladder system against 60 to 70 other competitors, it's always good to pick up some silverware to show for the efforts.

On this occasion, it was debutante, Darren Begg who led from the front for a number of months to lift the 2009-2010 league trophy.

Darren began from the foundation of the leagues but soon progressed and improved his skills to reach a comfortable position in his first season at the club.

With a few months remaining, Darren stretched his lead from the pack to finally lift the trophy.

He commented on receiving his trophy, 'This is a sport I wish I had begun earlier as I've enjoyed gaining new skills, fitness and the friendliness of the club scene'.

After a good number of seasons in the clubs league system, stalwart, Tom Taylor pulled out all the stops and managed to keep his cool to grab the runner-up spot.

Last seasons' winner, Gary Beales did well to accumulate enough points throughout the season to finish in 3rd place.

Thank you to Doosan Babcock for their sponsorship and congratulations to everyone who took part but the club is always looking for new members.

LtoR:- Darren Begg (winner), Alan Miller (sponsor, Doosan Babcock), Tom Taylor (Runner-up) & Gary Beales (third place).
